First Hand’s Black and White Ball raises over $100k!

First Hand’s Black and White Ball raises over $100k!

Thank you everyone for your amazing support at First Hand’s Black and White Ball held at The Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza on October 24th 2015. We are delighted to report that thanks to our generous partygoers, partners, donors and volunteers, we have raised a total of SGD 102,364.77. This sum will be split between our two partnering organisations in Cambodia – Riverkids and Damnok Toek, and will go towards their childcare and anti-trafficking programmes in Phnom Penh, Neak Loeung and PoiPet. At the ball, nearly 300 guests enjoyed an evening of thrilling performance art, a live auction, a gourmet banquet and free flow drinks. The performers and interactive artists ranged from stilt walkers and jugglers, to face-painters and hair stylists.  Early in the evening the S.T.E.P. dance duo performed a beautiful and moving modern dance piece while later in the evening the dance floor was packed with revellers jumping along to the tracks of talented cover singer Kunjung. The ball was one of our biggest fundraising events to date and we are so thankful to everyone who came along and supported us along the way. Please do check out the many photos of the event on Facebook to see if you were caught on camera! https://www.facebook.com/FirstHandVolunteers/photos Thank you too to Expat Living and Sassy Mama for media coverage of the event: http://www.expatliving.sg/Living_In_Singapore/moving-to-Singapore/Charity-events-balls-and-formal-galas-in-Singapore-100K-raised-by-First-Hand-Volunteers-at-Black-and-White-Masquerade-Ball-109212.ece   Sassy Mama Supports: First Hand...

$7000 raised at Quiz Night to meet food bill target!

First Hand’s quiz on May 16th was a huge success. Thanks to more than 100 of you who came along and supported us. We raised just over $7000 which was a fantastic result and means that we now have enough funds so that we can fully support the wonderful children in the Goutte D’Eau special needs centre in Phnom Penh with food for the rest of the year, as we had pledged. It was so lovely to see so many people (even a few more than expected!). Thanks too to Jill for being such a great hostess and organizer – we will all miss you very much as you leave Singapore.                 We are planning another event after the summer – more details to follow nearer the time....

Walk for Rice at East Coast Park

Sunday, September 19, 2010 Wow what an amazing day it was for First Hand on the 19th of September 2010! At least 150 people of all ages took part in our Walk for Rice in East Coast Park. Each participant braved the hot Singapore sun to walk 2km, carrying in their backpacks the equivalent in weight of rice to feed 50 Cambodian children for a month. To replenish us when we finished, we were welcomed by cold drinks and a great Sausage Sizzle (thanks to The Butcher in Holland Village). Much respect and thanks also goes to our super chefs, Elana Sterley and Joe Alfonso for withstanding the searing heat from the BBQ to supply us with delicious hotdogs. This was First Hand’s first family event and what a successful one it was. The Walk for Rice raised a staggering $13,000 so far which helps us towards our $40,000 target for the year. Without all your generous support, in giving both time and money, this would not be possible. Thank you to all of you who came and contributed to our food programme for vulnerable at-risk children in Cambodia, and thanks to those who couldn’t make it but contributed anyway. We hope to see you all again at our next fundraiser, so watch this space! for more photos...
